There’s something really rewarding about doing it yourself. With DIY projects, you get to showcase your artistic skills and be creative and proud of your very own handy work. Letter boards are a great way to express yourself by printing contrasting words on a blackboard. This isn’t something only coffee shops and restaurants use, but you can add it to your home décor whether you’re sprucing up your kitchen or want to add a touch of inspiring words to your living room. A letter board will do the trick. In this DIY project, we’re going to use a copper or rose gold lettering option.
Step 1: Spray the frame
In this step, we spray the frame and letters. *Tip: To ensure that you keep everything neat and clean, spray all the letters including the frame inside a big cardboard box.
Step 2: Adding a grid to the board
In this step, you're going to draw a grid onto the board in a horizontal fashion at the top and bottom. Keep a 1cm space from the top and bottom. This will be your guide to the spaces needed to glue the candyfloss sticks.
Step 3: Glue the candyfloss sticks
Turn your board vertically and start to glue on your candyfloss sticks as seen in this picture. We recommend gluing 2 sticks at a time and to continue all the way until the end of your board.
Step 4: Attaching the felt
Make sure that when you attach the felt, that it cannot come loose. We will first start with the frame, so stick on the top, bottom and sides of the frame.
Step 5: Attach the remainder of the sticks with felt
Attach the felt onto the remainder of the sticks using the glue.
Step 6: Secure the felt onto the board
Using a credit card or any hard plastic card, simply press down into the grooves on the felt and sticks. Make sure that you hold the top of the felt so that it doesn't move.
Step 7: Add the letters
Place the board into the frame once it's dried. Simply add the letters onto the board to form your favourite quotes and make some cool statements. That's it, you're all set!
