Description

Who doesn't love to serve dinner with a beautiful table setting? What about making it with personalized decor that is easy and affordable to make? Even better! Napkin rings are a must-have for a fancy dinner and buying them can be quite expensive. To solve that problem, I'll present how to make 3 napkin rings upcycling toilet paper rolls. But don't worry, people will never guess what they are made from. Even though these ideas are inspired by Christmas, you can use them all year round. Plus you can choose other colours and personalize it however you want.

Step 1: Cut the toilet paper rolls

Each toilet paper roll makes two to three napkin rings. As I decided to make mine large, I cut the toilet paper rolls in half.

Step 2: Burlap napkin ring

For this napkin ring, you can either buy a piece of burlap or a burlap ribbon. Either way, cut a piece of burlap enough to cover the entire napkin ring.

Step 3: Spread the glue

Using the paintbrush spread a generous layer of white glue all over the toilet paper ring. Next position the burlap to cover it. Use clothespins to hold it in place while the glue dries.

Step 4: Glue the faux leaf

You could use a hot glue gun for this step but it might look unrefined. To give it a better-finished look I've opted for spreading a layer of white glue on the leaf.

Step 5: Attach the leaf to the napkin ring

Position the faux leaf in diagonal and keep it in place while the glue dries with the help of clothespins.

Step 6: Brocade ribbon

Paint the interior of the napkin ring with a colour that matches the ribbons you're using.

Step 7: Add the brocade ribbon

Follow the same instructions at step 3 to glue the brocade ribbon.

Step 8: Finish the edges of the napkin ring

To give the napkin ring an extra finishing touch, spread white glue at the borders. Then attach a gip trim on both sides of the napkin ring. Let it dry.

Step 9: Tree branches napkin ring

To make this natural rustic napkin ring, cut the tree branch into small pieces. They should be long enough to cover the napkin ring and more or less the same size.

Step 10: Attach the tree branches to the toilet paper roll

One by one, attach the tree branches. If you're patient to do it by sections you can use white glue. If not, go for a hot glue gun and do it all at once.

Step 11: Add a ribbon

You can stop on the last step, but to make it more festive I decided to add a satin ribbon to it. Place the ribbon around the napkin ring and make a bow. If you don't glue the ribbon to the napkin ring you can change it to match your table decor.

Step 12: 3 Napkin rings

Here are the three napkin ring ideas. Personalize them and use materials you have in your house to make it your own.
