Today, we've set our sights on this living room transformation from the designers at Leivars; a Brighton based interior design practice with a fundamental passion for creating beautiful interiors.

Rebecca Leivars was given the project for the room we see below. The room is large, spacious, features a fire place with high ceilings and plenty of light- a blank canvas to this artist. Take a look at how stunning this design is! We think the room gives of an amazingly welcoming allure and its lack of focus on technology (no TV!) is indicative of how a living rooms such as this one could ultimately play host to a more studious and refined character upon impression- a nice, thought provoking finish to the room.

At a first glance

This is the first angle of the room you would you would see when walking into the house and we feel it leaves quite an impression; the soft colours of the room are in no way loud- even the purple of the chairs has that lovely worn effect to the colour, giving the sitting room a very relaxed and calming appeal.

The bookshelf/filing system is also an unusual but attractive piece of furniture. The book covered shelves, at the top, leave space for the personal possessions and memories one normally finds in such display storage, however underneath that is a row of rolling draws that have handles reminiscent of filing cabinets. We think this is a great addition, to the already thought provoking and calm scene, as it again promotes a feel of refine and dilegence; work and home merging into one.

From this garden view we see again the non-aggressive colour layout working wonders and blending harmoniously with each other. The two pale blue ottomans do a great job of diffusing the large, running space of the floor and the classic design of the chandelier chimes in well with the ceiling rose and matching coving. Great lamp idea too; the retractable lamp in the corner is a fantastic space saver and an eye catcher!

This coffee area, on the other side of the room, is so bright and airy; perfect for mornings and afternoon tea. The large mirror, above the fireplace, and matching chandelier really help to get the daylight about the room; bouncing and refracting it onto the various light coloured textures and surfaces.

The mantle piece offers a great area to showcase a floral arrangement- any intense red, yellow or whatever coloured flower is sure to stand out a mile on there. The wood burner too fits in so snugly underneath the mantle piece and blends in well with the precision and cleanly layout of this interior design project.

More than a chair

No matter your situation, you should always have a special seat in your home; comfortable, personal and sentimental, this seat will hold a lifetime of memories. This brown leather armchair looks like a perfect candidate for just this: next to the bookshelf, the window, a bamboo side table for a coffee or wine right next to you and this beautiful Leivars interior to look at; this corner is sure to be the place of choice for its home owner.

A piano is always a great focal point for any room, and in this one, that consists mainly of soft colours, it stands out from the wall spectacularly. A fine talking point for guests and family. What do you think of this Leivars living room?
