Today we are taking a sneak peek inside an English country house that is located in the county of Hampshire, south-west of London. It embodies exactly what we imagine British country life to be—simple elegance and stylish charm set amidst a picturesque and natural landscape. It is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and allow yourself to be surrounded and immersed in tasteful luxury and lush greenery.

Truly—is there a more idyllic landscape than this? One cannot help but fall head over heels upon first glance of this elegant, charming and welcoming home. The romantic atmosphere of the property is infectious, because you know the possibility of relaxation and respite is imminent.

A warm welcome

In true British style, we are greeted with a warm welcome—a formality synonymous with the English countryside. The dress code here is smart-casual, with a good mix of country chic charm present at the door. The calm and neutral colour palette on display at the first point starts to put the interior of the house in focus. The delicately patterned wallpaper, in conjunction with the floral artwork, links the internal spaces to what we see outside. The cognac leather umbrella stand has an element of nostalgia to it and works wonderfully with the row of grubby gumboots. Since Prince Charles, or if you're a bona fide fashionista, Kate Moss, debuted a pair of Hunter Wellington's, these rubber boots have become a symbol, and have been intrinsically linked with all things British.

The first living room

Why would you limit yourself to having one living room, when you could have three? In this home, that's exactly what we have on offer—three times the fun, or in this case, three times more space for relaxation! In the first, we see a TV room with a comfortable couch, fireplace and rustic accessories—this is luxury and warm hospitality combined into one. The colour palette again is kept subtle, with a focus on soft cream colours and delicate gold accents.

The second living room

The second living room takes on a more sultry and moody ambience, with smoky and darker shades employed, even on the walls. Oozing with cosiness and an almost regal nature, the space is enhanced by the classic winged arm chair, photograph collection and comfortable sofa. In contrast to light filled room above, this mature area is better suited to a glass of whisky, a cup of tea, a cigar or even a good book as you listen to the pitter-patter of rain outside.

The third living room

The third living room, which instantly we notice has a more formal aura, is the perfect spot to receive guests and family. In a saloon style, the room is bright and welcoming, and is highlighted wonderfully by the combination of pale grey, white and cream throughout. The furniture and decorative elements speak in volumes, as they are elegant and inviting at the same time. Here, guests and residents alike can enjoy the spoils of a charming and pleasant living area—they just have to choose which one out of the three!

A modern country kitchen

The kitchen too, is dominated by white and pale grey. It is spacious and light soaked, filled with cosy vintage furniture and a modern country charm. The perfect place to relax and unwind in a more casual ambience, you can just imagine this space being filled with the scent of a cake in the oven or a slow roasting piece of meat. Whatever the sensation that best fits your memory, this kitchen is sure to be the heart and life of this home.

To get to the upper floor, you are required to take this welcoming white wooden staircase up. The thick grey carpet gives off a vibe of comfort and warmth, and gives you a hint of what is to come upstairs. There is a chance, however, you may be distracted on your way, by this modern winged armchair or the crackling fire. This transitional space mimics the rest of the house, and is presented in a light, airy and elegant nature.

A purist bathroom

Continuing the same interior decorating theme throughout, the pale colour palette even extends into the bathroom. Keeping it simple, rather than over the top, this bathroom looks modern and comfortable all at the same time. Clean lines and access to natural light make this a wonderful spot to relax after a long day outside. A few nifty country accessories remind you again of where you are, if you momentarily forget while you soak your day away, reminding you particularly of the landscape that befalls you from outside the window.

A relaxation haven

Lastly, but definitely not least, we end our tour in the bedroom. Cool, yet intimate, the colour palette of this room is again fresh and inviting, yet has heavier material textures on the bed and Ottoman to remind us that we have come here to relax and chill out. A veritable oasis of calm and serenity, the subtle feature wall and adds an elegant highlight to a largely muted space, allowing us to reset, and start afresh for the next day.
