Antlers were once proudly displayed on the wood panelled wall of a gentlemen's smoking room, a symbol of wealth and of course, displaying his talent as an excellent hunter. Antlers are now making a brilliant comeback; taking on board a completely new profile which hunters, environmentally conscious city folk and hipsters alike can all agree how trendy a set of (fake) antlers looks positioned on a wall.

Retro Chic

Like most thing 'retro', we have seen a resurgence of timely old products such as gold rimmed plates, floral teacups and vinyl furniture slowly but surely re-entering the design files and winning the affections of designers and home owners. Ten years ago we would have laughed at the thought of inheriting such a piece. Now, wall mounted antlers are one of the most coveted household accessories.

No Bull

Strictly speaking, this photo is of a bulls head and just the antlers. Despite this, it is evident how exciting and contemporary the addition of this piece makes the bathroom look. Not only does it completely defy what we would typically hang on the walls of our 'sale de bain', but this contrasting silver element leeches from the wall and brings a bit of pizzazz to what is a very structured and minimalist bathroom.

3D Fun

If you're a minimalist at heart, there are a set of antlers available for you too. Minus the head and the mount, you are able to add a bit of dimension and texture to your walls whilst still remaining a purist.

The Real Deal

With all the chic and trendy pseudo-antlers on the market, it is easy to forget that it is indeed still possible to buy an original piece. No longer are a set of horns destined only for the walls of your Grandpa's living room, there are designers producing updated versions of this classic decoration. For the animal enthusiasts and conservationists out there, there are companies who manufacture these pieces from deceased or so-called 'shedded antlers', which is a naturally occurring process of deer in the winter time.

If neither of those styles suit your agenda or budget, you can always opt for the thrifty DIY option of a cardboard deer head. Still just as revered as the options mentioned above, this piece can involve the brain power of a family or group of friends to assemble. In this example, the cardboard head is displayed proudly against an exposed brick wall looking rustic and charming all at the same time.
