“In matters of healing the body or the mind, vacation is a true genius!” —Mehmet Murat Ildan.

It's that time of year again. Christmas, New Years and Easter are over for another year which means we can start focussing on our mid-year get away from our busy schedules. Now is your chance to start devoting your thoughts to that much needed reset and relaxation time. We understand not everyone enjoys the same scenery for their break; some enjoy the buzz of big cities, some crave remote locations that are completely removed from the demands of society. Whatever your preference, we have complied a list of the top holiday spots for your vacation this year.

The Historical Heart

When you are surrounded by new technology on a daily basis, it is nice to inject some culture and history back into your soul. There are countless locations around Europe where you can rewind and take in the scenery of beautiful monuments from the past. If this suits you, you're the type of person who can think of nothing better than to wake up to the sound of church bells, or have the last thing you see before you fall asleep the sight of an antiquated square or fortress.

A Dip In The Pool Or Sea?

Perhaps an endless horizon is your weakness? A place where the lines are blurred between where the blue of the water and the blue of the sky starts and finishes. For some, laying pool or sea side is the perfect break from city, or even country life. With the weather slowly heating up and the pockets of sunshine increasing, it is possible to begin imagining such a thing. This particular home in Alicante, has the perfect view and of course, is the perfect setting for you to spend your days with only one difficult question on your mind; to dip in the pool or sea?

Big City Lights

A retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life isn't the ideal holiday choice for everyone. If the idea of laying poolside for a month frustrates your restless soul, then the perfect spot for you is of course, a luxurious view of a cityscape. Be amongst the chaos and movement during the day, then retreat with a glass of champagne and watch the sun set behind the city lights.

Tropical Tranquility

A luxury villa in the tropics, tucked away, secluded and noncommunicable from mankind is the perfect retreat for some. Turn off your phone, disconnect your WIFI and absorb into your surroundings. Let your lungs breathe in unison with the trees around you and cleanse your soul of schedules and deadlines. Spend your days and evenings poolside or trekking through the marvellous and undulating landscapes of the Caribbean. Decrease your sleep debt - early night, sunshine, repeat.

The Country Farmhouse

Is a 12th century estate more to your taste? Escape to the Italian countryside and spend your vacation in an Etruscan style church come farmhouse, with all the latest technology and mod-cons on offer. Rich in history, you can roam the landscapes by day and indulge yourself at night with a homemade dish of pasta and a glass of Chianti. Perfetto!

A Cabin In The Woods

Still not satisfied? If like many, you love nature but aren't exactly wrapped up in the idea of camping, might we suggest a contemporary log cabin in the woods? Subtle and discreet, this house is tucked into its surroundings by mimicking the colours and strange shapes of nature. With an breathtakingly endless view of greenery, you can brunch on the veranda with friends and family and watch the sun go down behind the rolling hills in the evening.

Have we only just whet your appetite for more? See our ’Cityscapes and Log Cabin’ ideabooks. Alternatively, comment below to let us know which are your favourite holiday escapes.
