We are always on the look out for special and unique projects, and when we read about 4 friends | 4 lofts we were instantly taken by the concept.

Located in Milan, an area since the nineties which has been transformed into a creative hub for design, fashion, art and architecture. The neighborhood the loft is located in is alive and dynamic, and characterised by the many other loft spaces, galleries and luxury homes spawned from these large industrial spaces. The house was a former Belgian musical instrument factory, and has been the subject of major restoration work.

The brief was to convert 500m2 into four houses, and a study for four young professionals in the field of the image, photography and video. These are four friends with similar needs, but what is interesting is that each space was designed autonomously. Take a look..

Ethereal

In the first loft we can see a wide open space that is flooded with natural light. The white colour scheme is the perfect backdrop for creative thinking. Ample room and the possibility to hang huge paintings hang on the walls gives the owner the perfect blank canvas for decorating. However, only a touch of color is needed as the library speaks out against the largely white space.

Modern Spaces

The second story reveals and incredibly stark and white space that is cleverly and so artistically framed in black . The black outline distinguishes areas and levels. The kitchen is located on the right, and takes advantage of the large living space available. The lime green couches add pizzazz and break the colour scheme but still follow the minimalist setting. To the left, you can see a compact and tidy study or work space.

Another Perspective

The upper floor is a triumph of the study of light and architectural spaces. Here, you will find more open space, a bedroom and another living area. The pitched roof becomes a resource for ample lighting throughout the loft.

Scale & Proportions

Another loft, another theme. In this scene, we find a triumph of light, steel and wood . The structure of the stair, which is light and minimal, immediately commands your attention; the steps appear to just float in the air.

Structural Balance

Geometric rigor go hand in hand with functionality in this setting. The main theme, central point and essentially, the heart of the entire loft structure is this fireplace. This cubed marvel has dedicated nooks for timber, fire and of course, a TV.

A Glimpse At The Past

This article wouldn't be complete with a before and after shot. Given what you have just witnessed, it is remarkable to learn that this expanse has been transformed into what you see today.
