Minstead is a small village in the New Forest, Hampshire, located about 2 miles north of Lyndhurst in the New Forest. The area is renown for its picturesque and green setting.
This property is one of those instances when the saying our parents and grandparents taught us comes into play—you should never judge a book by its cover! Modest and relatively simple, the exterior gives nothing away about what treasures can be found both inside and out.
Realising the potential of the property, the skilled architects at LA Hally reconfigured the interior to create a light-filled property that's perfect for relaxing and entertaining. An open-plan kitchen and living space now sit proudly inside and have the capacity to be opened up to the garden and pool through a set of large bi-fold doors.
Shall we take a look around?
As mentioned in the introduction, the exterior of the home is not showy or over-the-top. If anything, creates an aura of curiosity as we want to know what is behind the front door.
A simple, contrasting colour palette suits the form and material quality of the exterior, lending itself to the natural and lush landscape that the house is set upon.
Befitting to the setting, the country-style bedroom blends into the location of the home, evoking feelings of those summers spent out of the city.
The curvaceous forms of the furniture create an elegant look, with the cascade of pillows and soft bedding enticing us to step inside.
The bathroom is a temple of respite and relaxation, and that bath is just calling to be drawn! The hierarchy created by the levels in the bathroom design creates various points of distinction in space, rendering the bathtub as the most important element given it's height.
The subtle variation in tone and texture also works to great effect, with the small, blush pink tiles working harmoniously against the other cream and white elements seen elsewhere.
Here, the combined open-plan living space we mentioned can be realised in full. The stunning juxtaposition between the outside and inside can also be fully understood. Whether you're relaxing on the sofas or cooking up a storm, your view will always be pleasurable and inspiring!
In keeping with the style and theme evidenced in the rest of the home, the kitchen also possesses a rustic, country style quality. Given the installation of the modern bi-fold doors, it maintains the cosy, warm atmosphere that we love so much about rural houses.
Last but definitely not least, we reveal the big treat!
Who would have thought a glistening gem like this would be present behind such an unassuming exterior? Now, the summer months can be enjoyed to the fullest.
