Our parents and grandparents told us from a very young age to never judge a book by its cover, and this is certainly true in the case of the country home in Holland we're about to see.

From the outside, you'd never guess a truly sleek and modern interior would feature inside. And though that might seem like a bit of a spoiler, you'll never fully grasp this statement until you see the contrast we're talking about with your own eyes.

The house pays homage to its country location yet, once the layers are peeled back, it reveals a whole score of wonderful secrets.

Take a look!

Located between Amsterdam and Utrecht, the city of Vinkeveen is where we find this modern country revival. The home is situated in a beautiful area, near the Lakes of Vinkeveen, which are known for their recreational opportunities.

It's immediately apparent the architects have created a contemporary country house, where modern lines are combined with more traditional elements, such as a thatched roof.

Beautiful rear garden

We now move around to the back garden which, given its setting, seems right at home. Manicured and luscious, it matches the country-style exterior of his home to a tee.

No matter what the occupants use the garden for, they can be assured it'll be their own oasis of calm, offering respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Ultra-modern living room

Inside, we can really make sense of the difference between the interior and exterior style.

The living room is dominated by stark white surfaces and bold furniture forms. The windows and doors ensure the room is well lit, while the white walls and ceilings make the room appear brighter.

Set up in soft colours, the furniture is soothing. A touch of drama, however, has been added through the dark accessories and decorative elements, giving this room a pleasant atmosphere.

Delicious dining room

The living room and kitchen spaces flow into one other, thanks to the lack of heavy partitions, with clever shadow play created by charcoal grey dividers.

From this angle we can see the amount of windows and doors that have been included, creating a stunning juxtaposition between inside and out. The decorative and furniture elements are a real standout too, with that skeletal chandelier stealing our attention.

Luxury bathroom

The bathroom oozes symmetry and spaciousness, with the mirrors on the back wall making this room seem almost infinite.

Flanked by black walls and a bright ceiling, bathing in this space must be nothing short of heavenly.  Sleek and modern are the magic words, with an emphasis on outstanding material quality that cannot be beaten.
