More and more homeowners are drawing their attention inwards, focusing on the rooms that help to improve the everyday quality of their lives. A bathroom, like any other room in a home, is special, and it's the one space that we are raw and exposed, hidden away momentarily from schedules and the daily grind. Treating yourself to a beautiful bathroom isn't a new concept—think about the stunning bathhouses and hammams that are still standing even though they were built thousands of years ago. As humans, we're entitled to have a place that is dedicated to nurturing our soul—an oasis of calm and serenity where we can, if only for a short while, zone out and focus totally on ourselves. Below, you'll find inspiration on how you can create your own special bathroom space within your own four walls. Take a look…

Pure style

This is one of those examples of a bathroom that proves a picture is worth a thousand words. From the intricate grain in the black marble to the frameless shower encasement, this example displays modern bathroom design at its finest. Located in an apartment that pays homage to geometry and simplicity, the finest of material finishes and clever spatial resolve have been considered above all. And, as you can see, Valentirov Partners have successfully created a space that is nothing short of breathtaking.

Glowing

Contemporary, sleek and fresh are just some of the words that come to mind when we see this bathroom and steam room combination from Steam & Sauna Innovation. Their mentality is that you don't need a huge space to have your own personal oasis of relaxation and respite in the comfort of your own home. And as you can see, their design definitely lives up to this ethos. The effect created by the burst of lilac light is nothing short of stunning. Having an almost Pied Piper like effect, the glow is beckoning us to get closer…

Nature calling

Camp Hammer: modern Bathroom by Uptic Studios

Uptic Studios

Created by Uptic Studios, this bathroom is part of a project called Camp Hammer. Given that the home is located in a scenic lakeside location, we're not surprised the designers opted for a more natural feel in the interiors. The brief was to create a home that encompassed Cabin funk; meaning the internal spaces should resonate with a cabin tucked away into nature, yet encompass all the latest eco-friendly modcons. The shower, which is a beautiful combination of steel, glass, stone and wood, definitely has an earthy vibe about it. And, we absolutely love the finishing touch of the outdoor wall light!

Purple haze

The contrast provided by the stark white surfaces and matte-finish purple wall paint is truly marvellous. As you can see, each and every detail has been considered—from the curvaceously formed wall lights, to the elongated horizontal mirrors. Completed by E2 Architecture + Interiors, this is a stunning example of how you can inject colour into a space that is always decked out in shades of white.

Petite & powerful

A beautiful bathroom doesn't have to be big, in fact, a room tends to be better resolved when there is less space to play with. In this petite, but well planned bathroom by Jigsaw Interior Architecture, we see a beautiful mix of grey, white and pale wooden tones come together to create a stellar minimalist atmosphere. To protect the space from feeling cramped, the bathroom has been illuminated in such a way that every nook and cranny is lit. Along with this, the shower wall is made from glass to keep the space free of partitions, and a large mirror has been installed to further reflect the light.
