No longer is the bathtub considered just a humble tub that we would have the occasional soak in or put the kids into with a rubber ducky and some bubble bath. In the last decade, we have sadly seen a discouraging trend in the decline of bathtubs; many home owners are choosing to build without, in favour of only a shower as a more cost effective option.

Don't be disheartened though. There are bathtubs enthusiasts and devotees out there who would not have their bathrooms any other way. To combat this, many companies have begun designing bathtubs as part of a whole package, or, as a sculptural piece to stand on its own. So, today on homify we are looking at a selection of bespoke bathtubs from the classic to the all out technological marvels to encourage you, the homeowner, to leave a place in your bathroom for the tub.

Taking advance of the beautiful finish of this pale timber, this example of bespoke bathware has paid homage to nature. The slate tiles on both the wall and floor create balance and unity between in the colour scheme; and of course, do not distract from the epic alpine view on show. With straight lines, strong geometry and a limited colour palette, this bathtub is for the true followers of Scandinavian design.

High tech

Where else but located in a penthouse suite, this incredible bathtub is home to one of the most amazing city views. Who needs a movie or TV series when you can watch the sunrise or set in the distant horizon. With LED mood lighting, and speakers built into the ceiling, you will need to cancel all your appointments and meetings for the afternoon because let's be honest; you aren't going any where fast.

If you don't like the idea of being cramped into a small rectangular bathtub, then why not soak in a large square shaped tub? You have the pleasure of being able to stretch out from corner to corner. You'll notice the inner straights of the tub are curved, perfect for reclining and letting your body relax against. For one or two people, depending of course, on the day you've had.

You can't deny the unique and individual design of this particular bathtub. With carved feet and a gentle silver mosaic pattern, this tub is fit for any King or Queen. You can only just imagine how beautiful the bathroom will look, with dim lights and scattered candles reflecting against the tiling.

Freestanding bathtubs are all the rage at the moment in designer bathroom circles. Looking both modern, classic and totally luxurious at the same time, it is no wonder they have taken the world of homeowners by storm. Requiring less installation effort than the more classic recessed bath, your new tub will become the feature of the room and call you ever so gently every day to slip in and relax…

For the modernist devotees out there, we have this amazing black and white finished bathtub. Complemented ever so perfectly by the cabinetry and taps, who needs art or decoration when you have a setting as amazing as this?

To finish, we have the all out glamorous and palatial designed bathroom. This raised bathtub is highlighted by the clever black borders in the tiling.
