Lighting your garden can provide a stunning backdrop for your plants and trees, and allows them to be seen both day and night. The overall goal is to increase the visibility of the space at night and therefore, make it twice as usable.

Holding parties or dinners in a beautifully lit garden can be truly magical; you have the opportunity to linger long after the sun has set in the privacy of your own home. Today we are displaying some visually stunning examples of garden lighting which will have you oozing with inspiration for your next weekend project!

Sunset hues

After watching a breathtaking sunset, immediate sadness is felt once it has disappeared beneath the horizon line. But thanks to artificial lighting and modern technology, we can now continue to enjoy those burnt sunset hues well into the night. The example above, plays upon the beautiful linear shapes of the bamboo trees; amplifying the yellow of the stalks further with direct spotlighting. Underneath this, we have a modern heater which is sure to absolutely light up the space in all months.

Up & down

This two-way lighting system completely brings to life this circular alcove. You can just imagine sitting here on a warm summers night with a glass of wine listening to the cricket chirp. The yellow light against the render looks exotic and enchanting. To the human eye, a rather complicated illusion is taking place. Which way do you look? Up or down? Your senses are drawn in both directions in this instance letting you see the entirety of the space.

To the team here at homify, this scene resembles a desert sunset in an exotic location. In Europe, naturally occurring colours and hues such as these are rare and intoxicating. This is an exciting and clever way to make use of an interesting space and use lighting and illumination to maximum impact.

If you are fortunate enough to have a beautiful glass conservatory such as this, you can really make the most of outdoor light and the appeal of your garden. Using large candles is the perfect opportunity to create a romantic and serene setting and shows it is possible to not have to go to the effort to install circuit lighting or electricity if you aren't presented with that luxury. Note the beautiful chandelier with the candle light tips underneath the roof? An exciting and magical addition to an already enchanting setting.

This modern outdoor setting has a mix of both traditional and contemporary lighting examples. Candles are housed in the shelving units, and pathway lighting is supplied to illuminate the space from below, instead of traditionally from above. The perfect party destination—you'll surely house the slickest parties on the block!
