The days are gone when we would just use our kitchen for food prep, now we use them for so much more: entertaining at parties, recreation, showing off our latest gadgets and accessories, a meeting place and much, much more. With this in mind, we think everyone should make a special effort when it comes to their kitchen and, as such, we've compiled some examples of exceptional singularity for you to get your teeth stuck into and make your kitchen stand out.

Wood in the kitchen

It isn't easy to stun people with their initial impression of your kitchen. But a singular design like this would be sure to knock their socks off. A solid oak trunk that serves as a base to an eye catching kitchen unit; sure to be a talking point for any guest.

Stone counter top

Amaze your guests with this rough stone counter top. The natural face of the edges speaks tons about just how much of an individual look it gives to this, and would give to any, kitchen. It looks especially at home here, in this industrial surrounding, but you can bet that it would fit in nicely to a minimalist or rustic design as well.

Oval kitchen

We have featured this kitchen before, on homify, but we thought we should show you again; just in case you missed it. A space age design, formed around the use of space and storage!

Bold kitchens

Many kitchens consist simply of high gloss fronts, wood, stainless steel, tiles and so on. This can get a little boring after a while though. But is isn't necessarily the materials that can create this homogeneous and sometimes boring effect; it may just be the colour. A bright and bold design like this one could be all you need to liven your place up a bit.

Black and white kitchens

White is probably the most popular colour when it comes to kitchens. But too much of a good thing can be overwhelming. What about a classic contract in your kitchen design with a black and white fusion! Fun and charismatic and sure to pave the way for a memorable place.

Rustic kitchens

The epitome of rustic living, the oven only really needs to be a wood fire and they've gone the whole hog. From the bare faced brick to the low natural light intake, this scene makes anyone's dream of real country rustic living be realised!
