It can be frustrating to want a bedroom makeover but feel like you don’t have enough room to work with.

While small bedrooms might be too cramped to squeeze in an office desk or a king-size bed there’s still plenty you can do make your mark on the place. With the right ideas, that small box room that you've been battling with can become your little slice of paradise.

White with splashes of colour

White walls combined with splashes of colour can give the room the appearance of looking bigger without having to tear down walls or extend anything. The bold pops of bright orange and blue add a little character to it all to keep things interesting.

Use wood and natural elements to add a cosy homely feel

Using natural elements like wood can help soften some of the more modern qualities of a room and provide a feeling of homely welcomeness. No one wants to feel like they’re perpetually living in a sterile hotel room so the combination of gentle wood panel walls and modern ceiling lights toes the line between fancy and friendly.

Kids room

A small kids bedroom is the perfect opportunity to let your decor imagination run wild and add ideas that might not be pulled off elsewhere in the house. Your kids will have far simpler wants and needs in their room than you in your own but how these ideas are put into place is what will really make the difference. Here, the wall art has a more practical function letting the kids leave notes and reminders on their chalkboard and a grass themed pin board that can really show off their character.

Get creative with your wall decoration

While you might not have the floor space to crack out huge art floor pieces, that doesn’t mean your walls should go bare too. Don’t feel limited to just hanging up photos and paintings and instead make things a little more interesting with hanging plants. These can add texture to an otherwise flat decor with living, breathing and dynamic wall decor.

Go minimal

Don’t be afraid to keep things simple either. Your bedroom should primarily be a place to relax and sleep so avoiding unnecessary decorations and accessories might not be a bad thing. Displays, TVs and other distractions are notorious for disrupting sleep so less is more when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep.
