As time in quarantine grows, methods of relieving boredom are starting to get crazier and crazier. People around the world are struggling to find new hobbies that occupy their time, all while staying inside or distanced from other people around them.

If you are having a hard time trying to decide what to do, re-designing your home can be the perfect non-waste of time. Quarantine is also finally the time to do those house projects you have been putting off to the side, so if you are ready to redesign your home now, start with these tips to make your house feel brand new again, yet still on a budget.

Start With Easy Steps

Before you start any project, it’s smart to do a major clean and clean-out. Scrub your walls and your baseboards, and get rid of anything you don’t want. (Do not be one of those people that piles up your giveaways at closed thrift shops though). Then reorganize your space. By starting with this step, your home will feel like a new space.

Rearrange Your Already Owned Furniture

The cheapest, least painful to your wallet option is using what you already have and merely rearranging it. If you are interested in redecorating your room, move your bed to a new wall or put your dresser in a new spot. Changing up the way your room looks can leave you so much happier and feeling refreshed.

If you are looking to re-design another room, it is as simple as your bedroom, meaning you only have to move a few things around to make a difference. Move your couch somewhere new, or angle your television a little differently. You can even make it as simple as moving your decorations around and putting a painting on a new wall. A little bit of rearranging can make your home feel good as new in the cheapest way possible.

Buy New Furniture at Low Prices

If you are sick of looking at the same furniture you have had for 15 years, you obviously can shop for new furniture. Some furniture places are closed, however, some are still open, so if you find a store that is having a good deal, throw that mask on and get out there! Buying a new mattress can be the perfect way to make your bedroom feel like home again. If a new bed is not the friendliest to your budget or wallet, you should ask to finance your mattress. As long as you know you will continuously have the money for that, there is no reason why that is a bad option.

For the less fortunate souls out there that do not have an open furniture store, you can still look at furniture online and on different websites. This can also be an easy way to compare prices to make sure you are getting the best deal on your new furniture.

Online Shop for New Decorations

Buying new furniture may not be the smartest decision if you are trying to ball on a tighter budget, but you can always online shop for new decorative items. You can shop for original paintings, flower vases, lights and lamps, or any other smaller pieces you think will suit your house. There are plenty of online sales going on right now through quarantine, so buying cheap décor is easier than ever. Especially with Amazon being right on your fingertips, shopping for budget-friendly decorations can occupy all the time you want to take up during quarantine.

Make Little Changes That Make Big Differences

In many cases, less is more, and that does not change when it comes to re-designing your home. Small pieces can change the entire atmosphere of the room, which can be all you need to spice up your home a little in these times.

Adding a decorative rug, planting a few plants and flowers outside, repainting a few walls or doors, painting or putting wallpaper on light switches, changing your doorknob, putting up new curtains, and hanging family photos are all examples and ideas for little things that are cheap, yet still make a difference. When you get used to something being one way for an extended period of time, changing it in the slightest way can be enough to make you see a difference.

Paint Your Own Wall Art

Painting your own pictures to hang up is a perfect example of killing two birds with one stone. You spend time painting, and you spend time hanging up your masterpiece, giving you something to occupy yourself with during these boring times. Especially if you have your own canvases and paints lying around your house somewhere, painting your own wall art can save you so much money, leaving your bank account with a smile on its face. Even the less artistic people can do this because once you find your inspiration, you can print out a stencil of it or trace it. Simply look up paintings on Pinterest or even just the boring old internet, and you will definitely find something that catches your eye enough to know that it will transform your home.

There’s no arguing that this lockdown is challenging. And, the more time you spend at home the easier it is to want to make major changes. Clearly, a major remodel is not in the cards. But, you can take charge of your home’s decor and do a little bit of sprucing up and changing to keep things interesting.
