Flexible, affordable, individual – modular prefabricated houses offer builders unimagined possibilities when it comes to realizing their very own dream home. We brought you an example today. It comes from the program of the South African construction company Greenpods and provides its residents with 50 square meters of living space, which appears much larger thanks to sophisticated ideas and in which design, function and comfort combine to create a modern, feel-good house in a class of its own, which is available for under 40,000 euros is.

Exterior view I

It's clear at first glance that this modular wooden house combines everything you would expect from a modern home: It is made from sustainable, natural wood, which gives the building a very warm touch. There are also generous glass surfaces for a lot of transparency and a light-flooded interior, as well as a clear, straightforward design.

Exterior view II

This perspective beautifully shows how the focus of this design is on seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor space. The large corner glazing in the living area can be opened completely, so that the extensive wooden terrace becomes a flowing extension of the open-air living space. A roof can be installed on the terrace as desired to protect it from rain, sun and prying eyes. You can also easily enlarge the house using additional modules if necessary.

Open living room with kitchen

The majority of the 50 sqm house is taken up by the open living, dining and cooking area, which is flooded with natural light thanks to the large windows and appears even more spacious and airy thanks to the opening under the gable. The kitchenette is modernly equipped and offers everything you need—including additional storage space under the roof.

The bedroom also has a very airy, light-flooded feel thanks to windows on two sides and the extreme ceiling height as well as the bright, friendly color scheme. The furniture adapts perfectly to the modern style and the neutral color scheme. Custom-made installations make optimal use of the available space and ensure that not a single square centimeter is wasted unnecessarily in a small house.

View into the bathroom

Finally, we take a look at the bathroom, which continues the style of the rest of the house. Here too, the focus was on clear lines, high-quality materials, reduced colors and modern minimalism, where design, function and comfort go hand in hand.

Editor's note:

This project is a prefabricated house in South Africa. Unfortunately, prefabricated houses from this manufacturer are not offered in Germany. A great alternative in Germany is the expert Thule Blockhaus GmbH .

Another alternative for a wooden house

Numerous architects have recognized what is important today: living space is becoming more scarce in the city and in the country and we generally place more value on sustainable construction and living. This probably also influences the large number of mini houses, tiny houses and wooden houses that are now available for—sometimes—very little money (considering that it is a house). Do you want to buy a small house or build a tiny house?

The modular house prices are generally affordable.

Here you can see, for example, a small prefabricated house for 2 people, type “modular house wood”.

Are you a bit overwhelmed by all the possibilities that are opening up to you? We have put together a few beautiful wooden houses for you from which you can choose the house that suits you best. You can find the relevant article here .
