Maxwell Road - London SW6, Spiering & Co: classic by Spiering & Co, Classic

This was a property that had a surprisingly good layout so the main criteria was to update the kitchen and bathroom and to add some eclectic décor to make it feel interesting and inviting.
The kitchen we chose was a cream shaker style and was complimented with black granite worktops.  Despite the small size we managed to fit in a dishwasher much to the delight of the client.  In the reception room we used a large antique mirror to delineate the dining area, and also to add some feeling of space to the room.  The client had many paintings and so it was just a question of positioning them well and then choosing the furniture that would best fit in the room.  It was important not to choose any heavy items of furniture, so we chose a glass coffee table with a glass shelf below where magazines can be laid within easy reach of the sofas.   Glass is great to use in small properties as it gives the practical use of what you require without creating a visual block.
In the master bedroom we put a gilt framed, really large, antique mirror over a stunning hand painted large console table.  Sometimes it is important to be brave and choose something that may logically be thought to be too large, but that actually ends up by making the room feel much larger.    This was complimented by an antique sofa that was recovered in a textured velvet Nina Campbell cream fabric—expensive but worth it.
