This lovely railway cottage in Acton, London was beautifully decorated but had a tired kitchen and lacked an entertaining space which the clients desperately needed. They approached us to create a side return extension at the rear, incorporating a beautiful new kitchen and dining space with large, sliding bifold doors which opened up on to their landscaped garden. The roof included a huge bespoke window to flood the new space and the existing reception room with light. We were able to incorporate a green roof to provide greenery and to allow the cat access – we fitted the catflap on the first floor to get around the common problem of catflaps and full width doors. We were able to incorporate a new ground floor WC (cleverly tucked under the stairs). We finalised the transformation by redesigning the clients’ studies, with bespoke joinery and the reintroduction of an open fireplace, which had previously been hidden behind melamine cupboards. We selected finishes including a micro cement floor inside and out and organised the design and fit of a lovely, bespoke DeVOL kitchen.
