This
residence is approximately 2500 sq. ft.
3 bedroom apartment located in posh suburb of Mumbai.
The living room is a place that must be
comfortable and expressive of the occupants tastes and have a level of
formality that suits their lifestyle and entertaining needs.
This
award-winning project is a stunning example of how to combine new and old. The
architect has made an addition to the old shell.
This
proposes a refreshing change for the rejuvenation of a common inner suburban
housing type in India.
Living
the life of a minimalist is often easier said than done particularly for a
family.
The
pursuit of perfection through simplifying form and material has to be poised
against practical realities. The owners had every intention of achieving the
former.
This
generously sized apartment was created for a business man who wants all the
comfort of home combined with all the luxuries of a five-star-hotel. It
needed to provide a balace between business and personal life whilst
celebrating India's vibrant lifestyle.
Another parameter to the brief was the need to
be international in luxury but exude a definite Asian charm. Attention to this detail was over seen
directly by Sonali who regularly travels the world sourcing soft furnishings, textiles, ceramics, lights, original artwork and also floor
coverings. However, the attitude is modern Asia rather than anything ethnic. Often, the
only clue might be in colour— a ripe aubergine, a vibrant red, or simply the more earthy tones
that are akin to Indian interiors.
