own House refurbishment Kensington – The existing property was not only in need of upgrading in terms of decorations but also required more extensive works to the main layout adding an extension, renewing the main staircase, levelling all the floors, walls and ceilings, new windows, new doors, electrical and mechanical systems.

The property is a three-storey stucco Victorian property located in a Conservation Area with attractive bay details and upper floor semi-circular windows and decorative surrounds. The client wanted to alter the existing layout and create a fully open kitchen/ dining and sitting area, retain the bedrooms and create a master suite. The new extension created the extra space required to house the new open plan dining/sitting with enormous glazed sliding slimline doors which overlook the rear garden to allow a beautiful view out and plenty of natural light in. The ground floor rooms which are incredibly grand and tall were retained but new tall panelled doors were designed for the rooms which can also be positioned flat against the wall to create drama but also emphasise the mouldings of the windows and new shutter panels. New fireplaces were also added to create a focal point in each room. A new parquet diamond tiled floor was installed to create elegance and add interest to the space, the floor was finished was a semi – gloss finish to reflect the light into the rooms and show off the floor pattern. Upstairs the master suite was redesigned to include a new opening from the main staircase directly into the new dressing room, which also helped to bring natural light into the stair and also provide privacy for both the new master bedroom and bathroom. At the top floor of the property an existing rooflight was used to install a glass ball pendant to create a wow factor to the main staircase. All the rooms were decorated in subtle and relaxing colours , with the stonger colours being used in the grandest of the rooms.
