Brief – The client was in the process of building a new 2 storey extension which would turn the property in to a 5 bedroom house. The client had previously contracted us to work on their Auction House Banqueting Halls, Luton and the decision to use us for his own private residence was based on the belief that “when you have found someone good you do not let them go”. After discussing the project with the client and his builder it was agreed that we re-plan the 1st floor in order to provide 5 bedrooms 3 with en-suite facilities and 2 of the bedrooms were to have walk-in wardrobes. The kitchen, main lounge and dining room areas also needed to be planned out as this area was formed part of the new extension.
Project – As the builders were nearing completion of the new extension, at the time of our appointment, the priority was to complete the spatial planning exercise in order that the builders could progress with the 1st fix. After having a detailed meeting with the client in order to establish their requirements for each area followed by a scheduling meeting with the builder the spatial planning exercise was started this also included the lighting plans, electrical circuit and locations of all items which required plumbing-in. Bespoke Joinerydesigns were also done for all the bespoke joinery items which included the wardrobes, in wardrobes, dressing and bedside tables, doors, fireplace units and 2 china & cutlery cabinets. The new staircase was with an LED illuminated glass balustrade was also planned. Kitchen Design – Prior to sourcing the right style of kitchen we produced a detailed plan which incorporated a breakfast bar and TV area. Once the floor plans had been approved contemporary style units from Cottura were sourced and approved. The use of a book matched Tineo High Gloss Veneer along with Star Galaxy Granite created the feature elements of this kitchen. A high gloss white finish was used, on the remaining units in order to enhance the feature elements. The resulting effect was of a sleek, stylish and fresh looking kitchen. Bathrooms and toilets – There were a couple of special requests. Our client requested that all the facilities were to have a bidet. As space was limited in all rooms we suggested that the Geberit AquaClean 8000 plus combination toilet & bidet be installed. The Jacuzzi Essteam 1400 steam room for the master bedroom en-suite fulfilled the other special requirement. Fixtures and fittings – As the client was not retaining any of their current fixtures and fittings we sourced the all the furniture, art, lighting, accessories including hand blown glass and decanters for the lounge and dining room. A stunning Art Deco dining table and chairs, a consul table and sideboard in high gloss black ebony with stainless steel trims was also sourced from the furniture manufacturers Davidson London Ltd along with a bespoke fireplace unit.
