Regent's Park House - Aralia Garden Design Aralia Classic style garden Stone

This traditional London garden design won Aralia Garden Design the BALI Landscape Design Excellence award in 2011. The BALI judges noted good spatial definition and transition is achieved selecting five different compartments, driven by the building’s five levels. Good use of existing York stone flags and the overall result looks interesting and inviting. A very competent design with a traditional approach drawn from in-depth discussions with clients.

A historical London address houses a Grade 2 listed townhouse on no less than five floors, with a long, thin (only 5 metres wide) garden— which has now been beautifully designed by Aralia into five garden rooms, to reflect the architecture of the property. The garden design brief was to make the garden to appear wider, more spacious and interesting as well as relaxing, private and tranquil; also to reflect the professionally finished interior of the house whilst not looking too ‘new’. The traditional, classical townhouse architecture inspired Aralia’s landscape design. Firstly, a wrought iron staircase with balcony was designed and built to first floor level that required conservation as well as client approval.

Aralia landscape design turned the five levels into five different garden room experiences so that travelling from one to the next created a fascinating journey between themes. Included are: a spill out area from the main house for use on warm days; a chill out area; a dining area and a utility area. Planting between rooms was provided with structural evergreens contrasted with soft planting, resulting in a visual feast of seasonal change. Immediately around the house a white garden prevails, whilst further away becomes more colourful.
