TRANSFORM

The original house was an uninspiring 1960's single story building in Kingston upon Thames, southwest London. The client required a complete transformation with refurbishment throughout and extensive facade remodeling. The resulting design punctuates the exterior with glazed boxes that draw light into the main living spaces while affording glimpses to the modern interior that lies beyond.

The new curved facade draws visitors towards the entrance and the double height entrance lobby within. The timber paneling creates warmth amongst the otherwise monochromatic palette and nods to the exposed timber trusses that feature in the living room, creating a cohesive design aesthetic that is far removed from the original state.

A vital part of the transformation was to improve the performance of the buildings fabric and heating systems, to achieve the clients aim of reducing the energy demands of the building.
