Caullystone Architectural Practice
edit edit in admin Request review New project

Established by Jonathan Bavin in 2002, Caullystone Architectural Services, is a young, innovative, design-driven practice, focused primarily on residential design - including New Houses, Barn Conversions, Loft Conversions, Apartments, and alterations & additions to existing dwellings.

Caullystone is still a small, boutique firm. The personal service means you will deal with the same person from start to finish, rather than dealing with team leaders, groups or junior staff members.

We believe that great buildings result from great clients. Design is an interactive process. We encourage our clients to be involved in design decision making throughout their project. We endeavour to clearly communicate with, and educate and assist our clients throughout this process, so that the experience of designing and building a home is a rewarding and satisfying one.

It is often commented on by new clients that they choose our practise, as we didn’t have an identifiable design ‘type’. These new clients felt strongly that they wanted a home design that reflected themselves and their site, rather than having a design that could readily be recognised as being similar to others designed by the same Practice. To our surprise, we discovered, that the ‘blank page’ approach that we follow for our design process, was uncommon, and was in fact our real point of difference.

Jonathan has a Postgraduate Engineering diploma specialising in Ecological and Environmental Engineering which makes it easy for him to design with an eco-friendly approach. Jonathan’s skill as an environmental architectural designer is one of the attributes that sets Caullystone apart from your average practice.

Council Applications are not as daunting or complex as they are perceived to be. Caullystone have an in depth local knowledge of, and have built up very good relationships with many local councils, particularly in Cornwall, Devon and Lincolnshire. This means the ease and speed of dealing with the Council Application process is refined and efficient.

Caullystone also has good connections with many excellent builders, as well as surveyors, engineers, landscapers etc. This all helps to facilitate the path from conception to building and completion.

Jonathan is flexible with his hours and can be available to meet with clients at weekends and outside of normal business hours.
