HoughtonBudd Architects was established in 2005 by Andrew Budd and Jane Houghton.
The work of our practice is typified by an abiding interest in spatial composition and the sensitive use of materials in direct response to a site and brief.
We believe that a successful architectural commission should be the direct result of the relationship of an idea and its formal and material resolution.
We also believe that the specific and particular aspects of the clients brief should take precedent over all other concerns making our work site specific and responsive to its context. These concerns and interests are not applied simply within a narrow field of interest or typology and we consider that our approach can be applied to projects across different scales, functions and locations.
We are also actively engaged with architectural education and have taught at leading schools of architecture including Sheffield University and are currently senior lecturers at Kingston University teaching on both the undergraduate and post-graduate courses.
