TG-Studio was commissioned to re-design this country estate in the north of Ibiza. The property consists of a 3 bedroom house, surrounded by two hectares of lush gardens in which two additional houses provide two further bedrooms and en-suites. The clients – who had purchased the building a few years earlier—felt that a makeover on the interior was required. Planning restrictions forbid the extension of the building and TG-Studio had to work within the existing building.
The building and inherited design was very handsome, but the interior had been neglected, so naturally the project was an interior design task. The brief included a re-design of the terraces and the pool house, so it was suitable for relaxing and to provide a party space/chill out area. Huge Balinese columns support the roof over the outdoor dining area. The table is by Heerenhuis. The black dining chairs are by Kettal and the outdoor Wind pendant light is by Vibia.
The main room features 4 metre high ceilings and large sliding glass doors so that in the summer the living room doubles up with the outside terrace. TG-Studio also installed a new wood burning fireplace with flamed granite base and black steel back; this feature holds a 70 inch tv and surround sound system. It also hides a new double height towel storage room so that the niche (formerly a bread oven) could be opened up into the main room. The two L-shaped Lazytime sofas are by Camerich and the Toubkal cushions by The Rug Company.
Originally a bread oven, this alcove was hidden behind a partition wall and used as storage. TG Studio opened up into the living room and introduced a circular roof light and four different shaped windows with yellow tinted glass to create a very large chill out niche/snug. At night LEDs light up these windows so they glow yellow and stand out next to the stone façade. A round window in the ceiling allows further light in. The cushions are by Ferm Living and Tasca. The sidetables are from French Connection.
TG-Studio demolished the kitchen and installed a state of the art Doca kitchen with Gagganeu appliances. Flame black granite work tops, grey tinted mirrored backsplash and painted white oak doors.
The furniture selection was important in order to create a ‘London Cool meets Ibiza’ feel and includes a huge tropical wood table by SDA Decoration and bright orange Masters bar stools by Philippe Starck for Kartell.
All finishes and colours are kept in the Ibizan cool white. The clients, who are property developers in the UK, use the villa for family holidays, and privately rent it to friends when they are not occupying it.
