My client had just moved in to a flat above a garage on an estate, with a long narrow garden heavily overlooked by other houses. It was a blank slate, and he wanted a space with the 'wow' factor, somewhere to relax after work and to grow plants in. He loves mowing the lawn, too!
I managed to fit in all his requirements including a large 'veg trug', a place to entertain and have meals in, a water feature and a more private area to retreat into at the other end of the garden including a firepit. They are all integrated into a modern curving design.
I had to integrate this into the design - quite a challenge as it is big and the design was a curving one in the narrow space.
This is the area near the entrance so my client can easily access it after work, entertain and cook. The water feature is top left.
This is the area at the back of the garden. 'Sketch up' (in the following 3D photos) does not show the curve of the pergola and seat, which are designed to fit in with the curving lawn and beds. The firepit is in front of the pergola. Trees provide additional privacy from the nearby housing.
The bench would be a curved one here, however the curves of the lawn and beds are in place.
Here you can see the gazebo and water feature on the right. The veg trug fits in to the curved raised bed on the left.
