420 sqm. Two-Storey Modern Residential
Concept: Shell / Limb / Float The approach we utilized for MV is to create a metaphor of a arm stretched out as born from the angulation of the terrain towards the direction of the view. It is composed of a latticed concrete framing. Resting on its palm is a Shell that creates a protective envelope on the primary spaces.
The Shell is a tropical solution of establishing a hollow volume that integrates long projected eaves for the house. The projections protect the house from accumulated heat gain on the ground and lower levels and at the same time help deflect rainfall from entering through the house’s fenestration. The Shell also creates wind deflectors through the walls on its sides to help channel ventilation through the house at the same conceals utility installations (downspouts, AC, etc.). The Shell is a legible integration of tropical solutions in a singular component oriented to push towards the edge of the hill.
The Arm on the lower part of the house is composed with the lower level of the house having the supplementary spaces for the upper floor (such as guest rooms, utility rooms etc.), integrated with stilts that project down to touch the curvature of the ground.
In Composition it is a Hovering Volume that rests calmly on a limb that is projected from topology of the hill, facing the mountains.
