Nigeria 1950-1960 Brightly coloured beaded terracotta head commissioned in the 1960's to decorate wealthy Nigerian homes. The terracotta sculpture is inlaid with strings of beads over its ceramic form. They sometimes came in pairs as man and women or two females. The artist was influenced by 16th century Benin bronzes.
