Originally designed in 2006 by IDP, the re-design of the restaurants and nightclub was completed in 2014. The brief was to update the design and to bring interest and colour to all areas while retaining the original features. IDP created the design while IDP Procurement Ltd bought all the FF&E from a global market. The success of the original design has lead to IDP being retained for all new works and projects by this client. This includes new penthouse suites at the hotel and a future new 5 star hotel.
Custom designed carpet from a photo of coral, lit glass balls suggesting bubbles and wall murals of coral add to the subtle marine theme of the Royal Yacht hotel. All lighting is colour changing and the large columns have 3D wallcovring to give them a drapery appearance to soften the interior. See the full photos on www.idpdesign.com.
The Zephyr restaurant is all day dining and includes a large covered al fresco area which will well heated and lit. The interiors had to be commercial and comfortable. The large volume of customers requires high resistance to wear and tear. The marine theme again applies through large kelp wall murals and sea anemone pendant lights.
The wine cellar can be hired out for private parties for wine tasting and canopies. IDP created this space from a storage room adjacent to the Sirocco restaurant. It features concealed lighting, rough stone walls, stone floor and rib like false beams all in rich toned woods.
The typical guestroom at the Royal Yacht hotel takes advantage of IDP procuring their own goods globally. The hand layered veneered curved headboard with concealed lighting behind removes the rooms from the 'standard box' issue and a dropped ceiling over the bed with coloured LED lights give a feeling of grandeur and interest. The rooms were installed 8 years ago and they look as good today for as they were then. Credit to our longevity design.
