Michael Grubb Studio was appointed by Amigo Loans as specialist lighting consultants to create a unique commercial lighting scheme for their new headquarters – the Nova Building.
The project incorporated interior lighting design to illuminate the building’s hot-desking workstations, meeting rooms, boardrooms, the café-restaurant area, social breakout spaces and an in-house massage room. Michael Grubb Studio’s brief was to ignore convention and the sterile lighting schemes often adopted by commercial workspaces, and instead provide a working environment that engages with staff and promotes the Amigo brand and ethos. The lighting scheme was designed to be ‘honest’ and free-flowing to remove any sense of hierarchy between the various spaces. A continuous cluster of decorative globes that meandered through rooms created a connection between each space. Additional lighting was added around the walls to provide balance and to emphasise the tone and texture of the raw stone finish. A more intimate lighting scheme was introduced to the café-restaurant areas to promote staff engagement. Additional lighting was added to the performance space and the graphic information boards. The complete lighting scheme was energy efficient, using LED and fluorescent technology – a scheme that is becoming requested more and more from us as an energy-conscious specialty lighting company.
