ÜberRaum Architects have completed restoring the historic staterooms at the German Ambassador's Residence in Belgrave Square, London.
Working closely with Historic England, substantial construction measures were carried out to restore this impressive Grade-I listed building to its former splendour. ÜberRaum Architects developed a new colour scheme to refresh the rooms, including gold leaf to the decorative cornices and the grand stair.
Building services and IT were also updated, making the building fit for the requirements of 21st Century working life as a diplomatic hub.
Together with a carefully chosen display of period furniture and artwork, the newly decorated staterooms provide a striking setting for ambassadorial functions.
Following on from the recent façade restoration, the completion of this high-end refurbishment was a great success. The fully refurbished rooms are now in use again for international receptions and events. (Archive photos courtesy of English Heritage)
