This hospitality project as designed for a client with a desire to create the perfect fusion restaurant. Combining Oriental/ Asian cuisine with an ambience that could appeal to the local demographic of younger patrons.
The conceptual stages of the design development have moved through different expressions of Asian design aesthetics, which were later crystallized into what can be described as a colourful expression of ‘Asian Street Chic’ design.
The end result is a vibrant and dramatic ‘old world’ design with elements of wall art and Asian typography woven seamlessly into a concrete shell and a prominent usage of reclaimed artefacts that have been redressed in bright colours to add to their character.
Also the Tatami mat ceiling and exposed services on the ceiling and the soft diffused ambient lighting design is reminiscent of industrial and underground eateries that catered to their communities and brought together people for an exchange of ideas and a love of good food.
