This beautiful and elegant off- white shaker kitchen provides the perfect backdrop for the open plan kitchen and seating area, which also features a TV lift. The marrying of modernity and classical features, such as the detailed plaster work and original proportions created a light and beautiful space. The extension was designed to sensitively connect and infill the side return, making use of previously dead space. The homeowner (Roxane) comments:
Model Projects were a delight, from the initial brief with James who immediately took my requirements and turned them into a fantastic design—spot on first time with no amendments necessary.
The original tall French doors were replaced, but retain the style of the property. This along with the detailed plaster work and the delicate chandelier reflect our clients classical style.
This hall suffered from lack of light and was a cluttered space. By introducing wet underfloor heating system, the radiator was removed. The flooring continues into the new extended kitchen/ dining area beyond, pulling you through.
The reflective Amtico flooring went throughout these open plan spaces. The client did not like the knots which so often appear in engineered or solid wood and therefore this wood-effect vinyl flooring was the perfect solution.
The tall fixed picture window lines up perfectly with the roof lights above and the door into the dining room. The connection between the existing and the new spaces is retained, defining the kitchen space from the mornging room seating area beyond.
The main objective was to create the additional spaces required in the most sensitive way to the existing building, mirroring the materials, proportions and form.
The off white shaker kitchen sits perfectly within this space. Careful positioning of roof glazing has allowed the additional height and the feeling of light and openness to prevail throughout the space.
