The works involved converting an existing adjoined outhouse into a new family room.
The room was used for storage. It was very dark and damp.
Internal walls were removed and the existing walls, floor and roof were upgraded to include new insulation and finishes. An old blocked up chimney was restored with a new log burner installed. New rooflights and windows created a light and airy space. Rustic feature trusses were included as well as underfloor heating. A small attached kitchenette was also built.
The space was intended to function as a retreat from the main house, creating a private space for relaxing in. The room opens out onto its own secluded patio area.
