Martin Cook Studio

Individually designed hand carved stone carved pieces, both traditional in style and contemporary. Martin's work can be seen internationally throughout Europe, Asian and USA.

Martin has also designed two award winning RHS Chelsea Flower Show gardens in 2011 and 2013 giving him a Gold and silver/gilt medals.

    Hand carved Portland stone panel

    This relief carved Portland stone panel was originally a private commission but also appeared in Martin's silver/gilt award winning Chelsea Flower Show garden 'A Literary Garden' in 2011.

    The tree is deeply relief carved and the apples are gilded with 23 carat gold leaf. The poem celebrates the work of Milton.

    The Great Court of The British Museum

    In 2000 Martin was commissioned by Sir Norman Foster to create and carve the lettering on The Reading Room drum at the centre of the Great Court. Martin worked on the project for a year. Each letter was drawn by hand and carved with hammer and chisel in the tradition method.
