Loxley Stables, 2019

Completed 2019 – three new timber frame houses on a verdant site in Hertfordshire. Built by Thompson Build & Developments.

Set in the original grounds of a 16th century Grade II listed historic house, Loxley Stables is a sensitive development consisting of three low energy houses positioned around a communal retention basin and pond.

The scheme addresses various constraints including designing around flood plains, accommodating large archaeological digs, and ecological and great crested newt mitigation. The process involved working closely and successfully with Dacorum Council in a sensitive conservation area.

One of the houses was built using Passivehaus construction as a test bed for low energy off-site construction.
